Friendly Friends

Hey old pals, I am not a blogger, and must confess that this is only the second time I have come to this page to check things out--the first time being during the first week of the competition. I just wanted to offer a word of congratulations for all who are working so hard and for the progress you are making--this is hard work, and it stinks! However, it is quite gratifying to step on the scale and not have to listen to it whimper, and sigh with relief when I get off!

Beyond the initial plunge of 5 or 6 pounds in the first week, I have not been making the precipitous drop that I anticipated making, and have had a plateau or two to deal with but we are persevering and making progress, and that is the whole reason we are doing this in the first place, eh? As of this morning I am down about 15 pounds or so, and I need about 4 more to meet my 10% mark. My primary goal is to deprive the real biggest loser of my contribution, and to be able to tie my shoes without having to hold my breath! It sounds like we are all on our way to meeting our goals! Yeah us!

On those inevitable frustrating days and weeks, just remember the lesson of the tortoise and the hare--slow and steady wins the race. Flub ups and cheats are inevitable, but not the end of the world. just get back up on the horse and try try again (to mix a few metaphors). Keep up the good work friends, and fight the good fight. Remember--we are not simply trying to find a new low point from which to yo-yo back up. We are doing this as the beginning of making new lifestyle choices. There is no point to struggling through all of this if we are simply going to give in to the natural man and reinflate after the end of the competition. Slim on!

  1. VERY well said Jeff. I love your phrase "reinflate"....that is so funny. Paints such a picture as well as summing up in one word what we are up against if we choose to revert back to the Old Ways.
I am at 22 pounds and seem to be slowing down. Have changed up my diet and am allowing a lot more vegetables now instead of one at each meal. Still not eating white starchy carbs or sugar. Have cheated a few times and each time was almost excited to find that sugar actually hurt my stomach and it just simply was not enjoyable. My biggest temptation....not chocolate...not chips or cookies....not cakes or doughnuts or bread....just simply....graham crackers.
